Get ready for a different kind of day. Not just any day.
The 1000 MILE DAY.

Dream of the open road? We do.

Endless. Vast. Distant.

If those words describe your longing to get up out of that chair - we have just the ride for you. Join us in the Fall of 2012 as the kids go back to school, the temps settle into manageable and we embark on a truly epic ride.

The 1000-Mile Day is a moment, a day in in your life, where time and distance become lost forgotten concepts. A day when you can leave it all behind and melt into the horizon. Where all the land is but a fuzzy image in your mirrors constant & fading.

This is the 1000-Mile Day. Commonly called the Saddlesore 1000 by Iron Butt folks, Pashnit Tours is putting together a mutual destination ride. No group. No leader. No sweep. Just road. Just ride.

Meet us in Carson City, Nevada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Lying to the east, south and north are broad regions of the United States where distances are vast, amenities are few and the view is stretches to the horizon.

How does it work?

First off, this is not an organized ride. There is no leader, sweeper or group. There is no group size limit as there is no group.

The Nutcracked Riders will all converge on Carson City, NV on Friday, Sept 14th. Many of us will meet up on Friday evening for Meet-n-Greet.

Pashnit Tours is an authorized witness for the Iron Butt Association. For this special ride, you will NOT need to maintain much of the paperwork IBA requires. For example, if your ride is to the Utah border & back, all you would need to produce at the end of the ride is your receipt in xxxx, Utah and sign in at the finish so we may witness your odometer.

If you ride a more complicated route, a loop for example, you will need receipts at the major turning points, for example you decide Carson City to Las Vegas to Ely to Carson City (1,020 map miles), you would need receipts from both Las Vegas and Ely as well as signing back in at ride headquarters in Carson City. We will provide a special certified form that you can use to apply for your Iron Butt Association membership at a reduced rate of $40.

Loneliest Road in America

While you can ride in any direction to complete your 1000 Mile Day, we'll be focusing on Central Nevada regions of Hwy 50 to the Utah border and looping back round via Hwy 375, aka The Extraterrestrial Highway. Elevations climb to 7700 feet and are punctuated by broad sweeping valleys from one range to the next.

The Extraterrestrial Highway

Hwy 375 parallels Hwy 50 to the south. Nevada deems that "this stretch draws travelers to the austere and remote reaches of south-central Nevada, where old atomic bomb test sites, secret Defense Department airstrips and huge, sequestered tracts of military land create a marketable mystique." A stopover on your ride in Rachel, Nevada is worth the trip. Perfect nothingness out here.

Long-Distance Riding is a sport within a sport for a select group of riders. We would venture to say it's even somewhat addictive. Not for eveyone, but once you get a taste for the sensation of distance...

Overall, it's your ride so ride any direction you want. All meet back at the same hotel 24 hrs later and swap stories, compare notes and rider with the most bugs gets the most high-fives.

Want to Ride? Here's the next step...

While this is not a formal group ride, rather an individual one all set on a mutual destination, we'd still like to know if you are coming. Please fill out the registration form so we can get to know you ahead of time. All you have to do is come meet us on Friday, Sept 14th, 2012 prepared and ready to ride on Saturday.

Iron Butt riding is not recommended for novice riders. If you want to travel long-distance and are new to the sport, consult with & read up on Iron Butt suggestions and ways to prepare your motorcycle for long-distance riding.

A Personal Note from the owner of Pashnit: As soon as I heard the term, "The Loneliest Road in America", I knew I had to go. With little more than a road atlas of North America and a sleeping bag bungeed onto the back of my FJ1200, I took off in search of this road. What I found was more than I could have ever dreampt of - perfect nothing, stark beauty, and the endless horizon. My days riding broad valleys and dead-straight road defined Central Nevada riding yet created a lasting impression that I still reflect on. Long-Distance riding is not for everyone, but our riding community has a subgroup that relishes the very idea of open road. If that's you, this is the tour we've created just for your mindset- unliken anything you've ever seen on Pashnit. You've got to be a little bit nuts to love this sort of riding - which is why there is now a NutCracked Pashnit Tour! -Tim
